On the face of it this may seem to be a curious couple, Ecstasy and Father Metal.

But they are not, really.

So many of us take the exalted state of grace that is Ecstasy for granted, as though, just because this is a natural way to be, we don't have to work for it.

But we do.

Eating is natural, but you have to find the food and prepare the food before you can enjoy it.

To touch the transcendent state of mind that is Ecstasy, we have to prepare ourselves. And, yes, a little discipline may be in order for some of us.

You can get to Ecstasy, to a sense of purest connection with all that is, if you are willing to exercise the will power that it takes to put you in that place.

Sometimes surrender takes work.
