Perhaps you can share what your inspiration was for the humility card? It's come up a few times recently, and I'm fascinated by the creation of this master major arcana card. I just noticed today (yes, I'm so observant the number 22, and did a double-take.
When I added the two new suits to the deck, the total number came to 106. As that was only two digits away from the mystical 108, I thought that since I'd added two suits to the lower arcana, it was looking very appropriate to add two cards to the major arcana, especially since that 108 number is so prevalent in Asian traditions and the two new suits, wood and metal, were added to honor and integrate those traditions.
That addition brings gives us a final card with the number 23, the axis of the earth. It all seems to fit so perfectly!
The idea of Humility was to remind us that everything we create is - must be! - based on what the earth has already created. She is the teacher, always, and we, the students. (Some of us need reminding sometimes.)
And, since the chambered nautilus is so often used to illustrate nature's perfect design template, the golden mean, it seemed like the perfect choice for the card.
I am glad you respond so favorably to it! Reply to this
