7 Wood / 9 Air

It doesn't take much courage to say that you were right about something.

But don't pass up any opportunities you may have today to admit to being wrong. You'll be glad you did.

We usually grow more from our mistakes than from we do from 'getting it right.'

I still am not certain that I really understand the Wood suit. I've never been into this aspect of the elements, as wood and earth have never seemed separate to me. What am I missing?

Ok....let's start at the beginning...why I added two new suits.

My desire was to incorporate the elemental traditions of the metaphysical systems of the whole world in an attempt to make the tarot a universally applicable system. So I added Wood and Metal, from the Asian metaphysical system. That meant that I had to translate the meanings and relevances that are associated with those elements within the system from which they derive into concepts that could be used in Tarot.

As I have studied Feng Shui for many years and have a passing familiarity with acupressure and Chinese medicine, I feel confident in my ability to interpret Wood and Metal within the context of Tarot.

Wood is a suit that deals with two aspects of life, nurturing and personal growth. The 7 of Wood, today's card, speaks - depending on it's context - either to acquiring personal growth or nurturing in a way that is not necessarily straightforward or may be a deviation from what you had expected.

Metal deals with will power and ego, in other words, it deals with the applied use of the intellect as a tool. That is a refinement of the suit of Air which relates to the various processes and levels of the mind conscious, unconscious and subconscious.

Currently, I am working on individual card descriptions on my website, www.sacredearthsevenelement.com.

I hope this is of some help to you.
