You've heard it said, "It seems like I take one step forward and then two steps back."

It only feels that way.

It feels that way because the more conscious we become, the more we become comfortable being conscious, so when we do "something stupid" we feel even worse than we would have felt prior to our consciousness having been expanded.

So don't be had on yourself if you make an error in judgment. Everyone makes mistakes; that's how we learn.
