We learn from our mistakes. We go out on a limb; we try something risky; it doesn't work out as we had thought it would; we give up. We just give up...and somehow, almost magically, during that time of giving up, we are processing. Even if we are not conscious of it, we are processing. And eventually we get it. We learn.

We are so proud of ourselves for learning.

If we have learned really well then we have learned the most important lesson of all, that no matter how much we learn, we know nothing. And so it is with the deepest sense of respect for a process of which we can have no true grasp that we take our next small, sensible step into the unknown.
