Wood and Metal are a dynamic combination. Metal, it is said in books on Five Element Theory, chops wood. It can also carve wood. It can also embellish wood. That is the situation we have here. Wood, the suit of personal growth, upholding Metal, the suit of the exercise of will power.

Wood and Metal, are, of course, the elements in this deck, Sacred Earth, Seven Element that are - at the moment - in no other deck. They express more refined aspects of the mind and intellect, aspects that had little consequence when the Tarot first came on the scene. Now they figure largely in the civilized world, hence their appearance here and their importance to us.
