Wood 7 / Water Daughter

What a grand year it's been.

For those of you not tuned into things celestial, today is Winter Solstice and the so-called shortest day of the year. It's not, of course. It's the same length as all the other days that we have carved out of the mythic realm that we call Time, but it is the day, for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, on which the sun is above the horizon for the shortest amount of time. Which mean, of course, that in the Southern Hemisphere, it's just the opposite, for balance.

For those of us in Northern climes, though, this marks the end of the solar year. The sun has put itself away. Tomorrow, later this afternoon actually, it will take itself back out of the closet and start the six month march to the longest day of the year. All of this solar activity, of course, is what those many holidays around the globe are translating into celebration.

In honor of all this hoopla, today's reading was intended to sum up the solar year that has passed while tomorrow's will be a glance at the year ahead. (Then I shall go traveling for about a week and no readings at all.)

Sooooooooooooo, for those of you who hadn't noticed, this year has held some unexpected opportunities for growth, (that's Wood 7), that have allowed you to plumb depths of emotion not previously accessible to you (Water Daughter). Fun, eh?

Wood and Water are highly compatible, though, and both here in the upright and straightforward position saying that it's doubtful that you could miss what's been going on.

I sincerely hope that this past year has brought you to an even more clear place of knowingness, as the cards promise. But should you find yourself in a state of confusion instead, please understand that confusion is simply a state of the mind trying to sort out things that would be better left to the heart...or the cards!

All my love for a beautiful and shining new year.
