XIII Transformation / Air 8

Take to the air and FLY!

There is, in this reading, a sense of extreme freedom, a freedom of mind and body, a freedom that allows you to soar out of the ordinary into the extraordinary.

In the old tarot the major Arcana card, XII was called Death. I spent the better part of a lifetime explaining to people when XII would show up in a reading that, no, it doesn't mean Death per se - although, yes, it can mean that on occasion - and also, but I'd never say it out loud, "What's the problem with death?" Freedom is what we're talking about at XII, Change is what we're talking about. So when I created this deck I just flat out changed the names of cards where they needed to be changed to reflect the broader sensibilities of our expanded views on living life...expanded views, I need to point out, that were fairly commonplace in ancient Asian cultures.

We learn. We grow. We get bigger and bigger boxes in which to feel safe, secure, like at least some other people and then, one day, we pop the top of the box and we fly!
