VI / Choice / XVII The Moon

Things were pretty straightforward there for a few days, now this.
For the record, reversed, in a supporting role we have Metal Mother, Water Father, Fire Father, Metal 7, and The Mystery. Reversed cards in this particular layout are like modifiers in a sentence. In this case they imply that the current condition in which you find yourself having to make a decision comes from you having invested a lot of time and effort in something about which you don't really know as much as you think you know. But here you are and you have to make a decision.
And the cards say.....sleep on it. Or maybe you already did just last night. At any rate, don't jump into anything without allowing your body those few hours of internal contemplation. Then, trust how you feel when you awaken absolutely.
Tarot traditionalists among you may recall VI as The Lovers. That name, though, confused and diverted casual readers from the true meaning of the card which was once more clearly captured in the very early decks where one would see a man with a woman at either arm, one of which was clearly his lover, the other of which was clearly his mother. And that, thank you, not love, is what the card is all about. I have chosen to represent this dilemma in a more modern way and called it what it is, Choice.
