0 The Fool

   0 The Fool

My goal, in the creation of Sacred Earth Seven Element Tarot, was to create a deck of cards that both embraced the elemental metaphysical systems of the world and also celebrated Life. The Major Arcana cards, which unfold as a series of steps along a path, tell the story of Spirit enshrined in the Body, living on Earth. It is my intention, on available Sundays, to walk you through the thoughts that generated the images I've chosen and to delineate the steps along the way as we go.

0, The Fool, has traditionally represented the state of No Mind and the place of complete trust in the unfolding of the Universe. What better image to represent this state of mind than the foetus. Untouched, as yet, by human hands but saturated with human thought, chemistry and energies, the foetus represents us and our willingness to do this dance of Life yet again. Our choice. Always, our choice. And those of us who love life choose it often, knowing and trusting that everything will be exactly as it should be, knowing and trusting that the support we need will be there when we need it.

In utero and in the days of our infancy we remain one with our Spirit Selves, the open fontanelles a reflection of the powerful connection that exists between us and our highest state of consciousness. In utero that connection is as strong and pure as it is in the days or hours before a fully conscious death. Then we enter the world in a seemingly defenseless state yet knowing full well every step of the path that lies before us. As a Spirit Self we are pure confidence but once embodied in human form and inculcated with the forgetting and formatting that begins when we begin absorbing directly from the humanity that surrounds us, we may find ourselves thinking, "What could I have been thinking? Only a Fool would choose this."

Indeed...

Embrace the joyful Fool that lies at the center of yourself, the joyful, knowing, wise Fool that brought you to this place.
