This time of the year is always stressful. Even if you're like me and you don't 'do' holidays, most of the people around you probably do in some form or another...and then there's the DNA factor. Yes, DNA.

Well, let me start at the beginning...these holidays that seem to pop up all over the place around year's end, they're not for no reason. Days are getting shorter and the Body notices. The Body responds well to sunlight. It makes vitamin D when exposed to it and vitamin D is critical to our well-being. We respond well to light in general, to being able to see clearly; and daylight improves mood for many people. Our species has been around for so long that this cycle of the sun is part of the Intelligence of the Body. So even if we chose to abandon the opportunity to celebrate the likelihood of longer daylight hours returning, our bodies have no choice in their response - darkness mounts, the Body does what it does and, in subtle ways, we feel that.

So just hang in there. You've done it before, likely in many guises in many lifetimes. Learn what gives you a break, what makes you feel good and make sure that those things happen for you so that you can navigate the high seas of the so-called holiday season with style and grace.
