XX The World

XX The World
The world. In the big picture, it's hardly more than a speck but for most of us, it is our universe. We are, in fact, of the earth, made up of the very same elements as she. The Earth - The World. Both words refer to the same thing and yet, to different things. Earth, which is of course one of the suits of Tarot, is more comprehensible to us than The World, somehow. We walk, not on the World, but on the Earth. The Earth is where we are; the World is where everyone is.
Consciousness, long advanced in some Asian cultures with regard to the Oneness of things, was given a huge shove forward when the rest of the world was able to view pictures of our inhabited sphere as seen from space. Oneness was undeniable. The planet as a lifeform in itself was undeniable.
The World in Tarot represent wholeness, completeness, reliability, order, and the rightness of things. There is a comfort and a sense of inevitability around The World because the world itself is part of a pattern that is part of a pattern that is part of a pattern and so on...we, likewise, are part of that pattern...as are the cells that make us up...as is DNA itself...as is the universe in which we all whirl. The whirled, that's us.
For me, XX always speaks to the importance of the moment because she - and we - are here for no more than a relative moment in the scheme of things...and the presence of XX, The World always speaks to the perfection of that moment.
