Onesies

ONE
"One is the loneliest number that you'll ever know."
Well, maybe. But it's also the strongest, the most independent, the most uncomplicated number that you'll ever know.
Ones are all about Essence and there's the power of potential in Essence. Things could go one way or another but the One thing you know when you see a One is the over-riding tone of whatever it is, the One thing that will stand out. Cards that precede a One pave the way for its presence, cards that follow it are touched by its energies. A One in a reading becomes a little like the upright in a gyroscope, with everything else spinning around it.
One Water : Feelings. Feelings, period. Could be any kind of feelings.
One Wood : Personal Growth. Could be happening for a whole variety of reasons. Look around. See what other cards are present.
One Air : The Mind and its various processes and those are many but the quality of Thinking lies behind all of them. The reason I don't just say Thinking is that Thinking is a loaded word and tends to sound as if there is some actual value around the process when, in fact, it is often troublesome and can hold us captive to concepts, ideas, and so-called facts and so, tends to be limiting. The Mind can be useful and helpful when used properly but all too often it leads us down problematic roads.
One Fire : The presence of Spirit, apprehensible to us in a variety of ways, often showing up as inspiration, ah-ha experiences, or on overall sense of being in the flow of things.
One Earth : The Material World. Could be the physical body, finances, or material goods.
One Metal : Will Power, plain and simple. While the suit of Air is about the Mind and its tendencies, Metal is about the controlled use of the Mind towards a focus or a goal.
The Magician is the One Card of the Major Arcana, the cards which, when they show up, are an indication of a more vibrant and conscious connection with the Spirit level of the Self. We are always "on path," it would be impossible to be off it, but we are not always intimately connected with a sense of that. The Major Arcana cards show up to remind us. The Magician, as the One in this bunch, reminds us of our individual skills, that it is we who have the tools we need to do what needs doing in our own lives.
