VI Choice / 0 The Fool

A fabulous reading for the beginning of a new cosmic aeon, albeit a somewhat short one!
I love The Fool I've chosen for this deck because it is such a perfect representation of each of us at a point where we might have chosen to enter a physical body - another physical body! - to try this game of embodied life again...because, after all, we can't do what we do as humans, can't experience what we experience, without this vulnerable physical plant we choose to inhabit.
Some of us forget that, that we entered into this with some level of consciousness; some of us don't believe that; doesn't matter...here we are, doing what we do. The Fool, whose original basis stems from the court jesters, is no fool. To be a Fool you had to be, first of all, exceedingly intelligent. You had to see behind words that were spoken and actions that were taken to what lay behind them and to be able to speak about those things in such a way that only those clever enough to get your messages, would, since the messages often contained cautionary reflections for the intended audience. The Fool is no fool.
Here, in the first reading of the first day of what the Mayans would have considered the Universal Cycle, the shortest - and fastest seeming - of the designated periods of their calendar (which was never designed to be read as our meager 365 day calendars are but rather as a guide to our place in the much larger Universe that surrounds us), here we have the whole story in a nutshell: We have a choice to make.
We always have a choice to make. Getting up in the morning is a choice, after all. But for this reading to come on a day when we, for all intents an purposes, hit the trampoline and start heading up...well, whatcha gonna do when you reach the apex? Are you going to mug for the camera? Are you going to do some fantastic feat? A mid-air somersault, perhaps? Or will you simply stay the course you've set and just attempt to shoot up a little higher? Your choice. Your call.
Well, it's snowing here in the hills of West Virginny and I can tell from the way the lights are flickering that we're going to lose power sometime soon, so I'm posting now...my choice. I wish you the confidence to make bold choices in this new cycle...it's what it's all about.
